Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions (“Agreement”) apply between Family Matters Celebrant Ltd (Company number 16913790) (“the Celebrant”) and the Client(s) named in the booking confirmation (“the Client”).


By paying a booking fee or confirming a booking, the Client agrees to these Terms and Conditions.


1. Celebrant Services

Family Matters Celebrant agrees to provide professional celebrant services for funeral and memorial services and other bespoke ceremonies agreed in writing.


Services may include:

  • Initial consultation(s)
  • Ceremony planning and guidance
  • Preparation of a personalised ceremony script
  • Communication via email, telephone, or video call
  • Attendance and officiating on the agreed ceremony date
  • Coordination with venues and suppliers where appropriate
  • Ceremony rehearsal where included in the selected package

Specific inclusions will be confirmed at the time of booking.


2. Booking and Payments

2.1 Booking Fee

A non-refundable booking fee is required to secure the ceremony date.

No booking is confirmed until the booking fee has been received.


2.3 Payment Methods

Payments may be made via bank transfer or other agreed payment methods.


3. Client Responsibilities

The Client agrees to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information for the ceremony
  • Respond to requests for information within reasonable timeframes
  • Notify the Celebrant promptly of any changes to ceremony details
  • Ensure all necessary permissions are obtained for the ceremony venue

The Client acknowledges that celebrant-led ceremonies are symbolic unless separately registered under applicable law.


4. Ceremony Content

Family Matters Celebrant Ltd will work collaboratively with the Client to create a personalised ceremony.

The Celebrant reserves the right to decline any request for content, wording, or behaviour considered:

  • Offensive
  • Discriminatory
  • Defamatory
  • Unsafe
  • Illegal
  • Inconsistent with professional standards

Final ceremony wording should be approved by the Client before the ceremony date.


5. Changes and Amendments

Reasonable amendments to the ceremony script are included prior to final approval.

Significant changes requested close to the ceremony date may incur additional charges.

Changes to ceremony date, time, or venue are subject to availability.


6. Cancellation Policy

6.1 Cancellation by the Client

If the Client cancels the booking:

  • The booking fee remains non-refundable
  • Additional payments may become payable depending on work already completed and notice given


6.2 Cancellation by the Celebrant

In the unlikely event that Family Matters Celebrant Ltd must cancel due to illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond reasonable control:

  • All monies paid will be refunded in full, or
  • Reasonable efforts will be made to assist in finding a replacement celebrant

Liability is limited to the amount paid by the Client.


7. Force Majeure

Family Matters Celebrant Ltd shall not be held liable for delays, cancellations, or failure to perform services caused by events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Severe weather
  • Natural disasters
  • Government restrictions
  • Pandemic or public health emergencies
  • Venue closures
  • Transport disruption
  • Civil unrest

Where possible, alternative arrangements or postponements will be discussed.


8. Travel and Accommodation

Travel within South Wales & Bristol is included in the agreed fee.

Additional travel, parking, accommodation, or related expenses outside this area may incur extra charges, which will be agreed in advance.


9. Photography and Marketing

Family Matters Celebrant Ltd may request to use photographs, videos, or testimonials relating to the ceremony for promotional purposes unless the Client requests otherwise in writing.

Personal contact details will never be shared without consent.


10. Data Protection and Privacy

Family Matters Celebrant Ltd will process personal information in accordance with applicable UK data protection laws.

Client information will only be used for purposes connected with the booking and delivery of celebrant services.


11. Limitation of Liability

Family Matters Celebrant Ltd total liability for any claim arising from services provided shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Client.

The Celebrant shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential losses
  • Venue or supplier failures
  • Technical failures beyond reasonable control
  • Delays caused by third parties


12. Complaints

Any concerns or complaints should be raised in writing within 14 days of the ceremony date.

Family Matters Celebrant Ltd will aim to respond promptly and work towards a fair resolution.


13. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising under this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.


14. Acceptance

By paying the booking fee or confirming the booking in writing, the Client confirms acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.


15. Insurance

Family Matters Celebrant Ltd maintains Public Liability Insurance appropriate for celebrant services. Certificates of insurance are available upon request.
